Road Rules
Wisconsin DNR A/UTV Regulations are stated in full on-line and in their 2021 booklet: "WisconsinATV/UTV Laws" Please read this publication before you ride. Below are some highlights:
- Generally, A/UTV operators must be 16 years of age. Please review pages 28 to 31 for details.
- An A/UTV Safety Certificate is required for all operators born after 12/31/1987.
- Helmets are required to be worn by operators and passenger under 18 years of age.
- Operators must stay designated Routes, single file, on pavement, and on the right side of road.
- Operators must abide by all traffic laws and signs on routes.
- Speed limits on all roads are the posted limit or 35 mph, whichever is less.
- ATV/UTV headlights and taillights must be on at all times while on routes.
- Respect property and privacy. How you ride reflects on the image of all ATV/UTV enthusiasts.
- No wheelies or donuts.
